7 Best Vegetarians and Vegans Restaurants in Paris in France (Editorial)

There are vegetarian options almost in every restaurant and bistro in Paris and the portion of vegetarian dishes in the menus are growing rapidly.

The geographical diversity of France allows French cooks to use many beans, herbs, vegetables and olives.

There are stylish and modern cantinas, conventional cafés showing up around the famous districts of Paris. The concept of an exclusively vegetarian kitchen has become more visible in Paris as well.

We prepared you a list of best options for vegetarian and vegans in Paris to enjoy, whether you are vegetarian, vegan or not.

1. Le Potager du Marais

The "vegetable garden of Marais" as the name translates, is one of the oldest vegetarian restaurants in Paris. The decoration reflects its name: cozy ceiling beams, a stonewall hung with lush plants, big pumpkins and little cherub fountains, and in front of that, tables with candlesticks... Overall, this small, charming restaurant seats 26 people.

The menu at Le Potager du Marais is rather limited, but most of the starters on offer, as well as seven of the eleven main courses, are vegetarian, mainly dominated by pulses, tofu, fresh, crunchy vegetables and beans. The kitchen focuses on using organic products and also offers gluten-free meals.

2. Arpege Restaurant

Fine dining on vegetarian, skin cousin on vegan. L'Arpège was awarded one Michelin star in 1986, the second soon after and has consistently held 3 Michelin stars since 1996. The World's Best Restaurants voted it the eighth best restaurant in the world in 2018.

Until 2001, L'Arpège was a meat restaurant, but then the famous star chef Alain Passard fundamentally changed his concept, banned meat from the menu and bought a farm from which the vegetables are still delivered fresh every day.

Although some meat dishes have returned to the menu, Alain Passard's vegetarian and vegan menus are world-famous. Innovative creations are served in 12 courses. The varied combinations stand out with their interesting seasonings and are skillfully modified and redefined at the highest level.
